Growing musicality in children through building playful routines

Music contributes in a unique way to the development of children. It helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words and accelerates brain development.

Unfortunately, music education in the Netherlands is declining. Closing of music schools in The Netherlands denies some youth the chance to learn to play an instrument. The burden of teaching musicality falls on the primary school teachers who often have limited knowledge of music themselves.

Together with Meer Muziek in de Klas, we conducted a research-driven exploration into solutions that could inspire and resonate with children and their teachers to encourage them to become invested in their musicality.
